IDA-72 Scrubber
The scrubber is removed by twisting four spring-loaded retainers 90 degrees and lifting it from the chassis. Here you can see one of the retainers. |
The scrubber is huge, far larger than any other I have ever examined. This is due to the potentially very long duration dives performed in the surface supplied mode of operation. I would guess that it is a 10+ hour scrubber when used with Western scrubber media. |

The scrubber is essentially two axial scrubbers in one housing. The system is partitioned internally and the two bays are internally isolated. Here we see the inhale and exhale ports, as well as some details of the internal construction. |

Each bay of the scrubber is filled separately through its own filler port. The size of the scrubber must be seen to be truly appreciated. |
