IDA-71 Scrubber
|
|
The IDA-71 scrubber is identical to the scrubber used on the IDA-59, and is very similar to the scrubber used on the IDA-64 and AKA-60. It is a double-wall axial flow scrubber, with a single filling port. Capacity is approximately 5 pounds of scrubber agent. The spanner wrench shown is used to attach the scrubber securely to the rig, and to loosen the filler cap. |

Here we have the inlet and outlet connections to the scrubber. Inlet is to the right, outlet is on the left. Construction is of welded aluminum alloy, well protected with paint. |

The single filler-port is on the bottom. Once the plug is removed with the supplied spanner, the scrubber is filled with a funnel. I use the bottom of a 2 liter soda bottle cut-off to become a funnel. |

With the plug removed, the interior is exposed. The scrubber design is an efficient one, and carefully insulates the scrubber media from the outside water temperature. This is an obvious application designed for typically cold Russian diving. The system of the IDA-71 allows it to use either one scrubber or two, depending on the application. |
