Franken-Rig: The Basic Closed-Circuit Conversion
Essentially, what I did was to rip out the 02 add system of the MEDI RGU-FM rebreather and simply add the system into the IDA-71. This takes care of the 02 side of the pneumatics. The original internal pneumatics system of the IDA-71 was left unchanged, except that I now fill the cylinder with air instead of the 02 that it was designed to accept. The original auto-add valve now acts as the diluent auto-add valve and it has been modified with a finger-hole to act as a manual diluent add valve. Here are the basics of the actual conversion:
ONCE AGAIN: This is an EXPERIMENT. If you are foolish enough to trust your life by copying a system designed by someone that you don't know, you probably deserve to die while diving with it. SO: If you decide to fool with rigs like I have done, you better know what you are doing, lest you get killed. I'm not sure what else to say!

The three areas above describe the method I used to convert the IDA-71 to a basic Nitrox CCR.
